Spline Control Point
Add spline control points along a spline or bezier control polygon.
The Spline control point tool is used to add a control point on a spline.
Click the Spline control point tool on the sketch toolbar. Then click the spline at the location where you want the new control point. To modify the control point, click and drag it to a new location. Both the control point and the spline move in tandem.
The control point is part of the spline definition. Each control point is a node that has a set magnitude driving the shape of the spline. The spline at the top has a control point midway on the spline. Notice that the shape of the spline is altered by the control point when the spline is manipulated. This is different than a sketch Point. A sketch Point is not part of the spline definition and only sets a point coincident with the spline. The spline at the bottom has a sketch Point midway on the spline. Notice that the point does not alter the shape of the spline when the spline is manipulated.
Steps
- Click .
- Click anywhere along a spline or bezier control polygon to add control points to it.
- Drag the control points to modify the spline or bezier.
The Spline control point is part of the spline definition and has a set magnitude that drives the shape of the spline. Moving the control point also moves the spline in tandem. This is different than a sketch Point coincident to the spline. A sketch Point is not part of the spline and only sets a point at which the spline lengthens to meet the constraint.
When the spline is not being adjusted, sketch points are white with a blue border, while spline control points are always solid blue.
