AI Advisor is an AI expert that can answer your Onshape questions. Use the AI Advisor panel to ask a question to get information and references from Onshape's extensive resource library.

The AI Advisor uses the following sources to answer your questions:

  • Help documentation ()

  • Learning center courses ()

  • Onshape blogs ()

  • Other Onshape resources ()

  1. Click the AI Advisor icon () on the Document panel.

  2. The AI Advisor panel opens on the left side of the screen:

  3. Enter a question in the Prompt field and press Enter or click the submit arrow ():

  4. The AI Advisor provides the response at the top of the panel:

  5. Click a numbered reference to open its source in a new browser tab.

  6. Alternatively, click the References dropdown to display all references as an ordered list. Click a reference link from the list to open its source in a new browser tab.:

  7. Click the star rating at the bottom right corner to provide feedback on how accurate the response was to your question. Use the following guideline to rate response accuracy:

    • 1 star - Completely inaccurate

    • 2 stars - Mostly inaccurate

    • 3 stars - Somewhat accurate

    • 4 stars - Mostly accurate

    • 5 stars - Completely accurate

If you continue to ask more detailed questions in the same session, responses are cumulative, and build upon prior questions. If you wish to start over, refresh the browser window.

Company/Classroom users have the AI Advisor panel enabled by default. Enterprise users have the AI Advisor panel disabled by default. To adjust this setting, go to My Account > Company/Classroom/Enterprise settings > Preferences > AI Advisor, and toggle Enabled users to use AI Advisor in documents.

AI Advisor is only visible if the Document is owned by you or your company/classroom/enterprise.

  • If a user belongs to multiple companies/classrooms/enterprises:

    • The AI Advisor panel is visible for any documents owned by a company/classroom/enterprise that has AI Advisor enabled, but is not visible for any company/classroom/enterprise that has it disabled.

    • If all companies/classrooms/enterprises have AI Advisor enabled, the AI Advisor panel is visible on all Documents owned by that user, and any Document owned by any company to which the user belongs.
