# Sketch Split

Split open or closed sketch curves into multiple segments. Open curves require one or more points to split with; closed curves require two or more points.

This functionality is available on Onshape's browser, iOS, and Android platforms.

In the Sketch toolbar:

- Click the sketch curve to split; click one or more locations along the curve.

The sketch split tool splits open or closed sketch curves into multiple segments. Open curves require one or more points to split with. Closed curves require two or more points. For example, select the split tool from the sketch toolbar, and then click on a point on the circle, and then click on another point on the circle. You now have two segments for your circle. You can then use the trim tool to trim this segment, and you now have an open arc. To add another split, select the split tool and in this case, because it's an open arc, you only need one point to split it into two different segments.
