Company/Classroom/Enterprise Settings - Revision Tools
Only available for
Change the part number type of released objects to allow for part number reuse between types (i.e., parts, assemblies, blob elements, and drawings). Part numbers are tied to the type of released object. Changing the released object type of a part number will:
- Obsolete all previous revisions related to the previous object type and part number.
- Allow the part number to be released again with a new object type.
To open the Revision tools for your company:
- Click your Account user icon () in the top-right corner of your Onshape window.
- Click Company/Classroom/Enterprise settings from the menu.
- Click Revision tools in the list on the left side of the page:
-
In the Reset part number type section, enter the part number you want to reset in the Part number field.
-
Select an Object type from the dropdown.
-
Click Find revisions. A list of revisions that match your search is displayed.
-
Click Reset part number type.
-
In the dialog that opens, click Reset part number type to confirm.
The part numbers are now marked as obsolete, and can be reused with another type.
-
Create a release that reuses the obsoleted part number, and you'll see a warning in the Create Release candidate dialog.
For example, in the image below, we've reused the PRT-001 part number. It was previously used for a released part, was then obsoleted, and is now being used for a released assembly.
